Lucian Brown scholarship winner succeeds in the commercial real estate industry

In 2015-201 Akiel J. Pyant was awarded the Lucian E. Brown Memorial Scholarship, one of the scholarships supported by the Kappa Community Development Foundation. As an out of state student from North Carolina, the scholarship helped Akiel pay for his education as an undergraduate student at the University of Maryland, which influenced his decision to pursue a Master of Real Estate Development at the University of Maryland School of Architecture after earning his Bachelors Degree.

Akiel, an initiate of the Theta Theta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, distinguished himself as a campus leader at the University of Maryland, serving as Polemarch (president) of the chapter. Akiel also served on the Undergraduate Board of Directors for Region II of the Eastern Province of Kappa Alpha Psi.

Akiel is now thriving in the commercial real estate industry, where he manages commercial leasing for multiple shopping centers in the DMV-area. Akiel’s future is bright and we are proud to celebrate his success as a Lucian Brown scholar.
