University of Maryland students
This scholarship was established in cooperation with the Nyumburu Cultural Center at the University of Maryland. The award is formally named in honor of Charles Richardson, a former administrator and Kappa Alpha Psi Theta Theta Chapter advisor. The intent of this award is to provide emergency funding to students to help defray immediate costs for books, and ultimately contribute to student success in the classroom.

This endowed scholarship was established in 1995 during the twenty-year anniversary celebration of the Theta Theta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi on the University of Maryland campus. Named in honor of Lucian E. Brown, a U.S. Army Captain at Ft. George Meade Army Command and charter member of the Theta Theta Chapter.

Edgar Lee Chinn dedicated his life to mentoring and teaching young people. As an educator, teacher, coach and Kappa Alpha Psi undergraduate chapter advisor, Brother Chinn had a profound impact on the lives of thousands of young men and women throughout his life.
The Edgar Lee Chinn Scholarship Fund honors the legacy of Brother Chinn and continues his important work by funding the Edgar Lee Chin Merit Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior from the College Park - Sandy Spring (MD) Alumni Chapter Kappa League Program to attend the college or university of his choice.
